Alzheimer’s and Honey

Alzheimer’s and the Health benefits of Manuka Honey and Raw                                                    Unfiltered Honey

Honey is one of the most enjoyable sweets and it is good for you.  Of course Raw Unfiltered Honey is very good for youAlzheimer remedy, and especially if it is from the area you live in, important when you have allergies.  As I mentioned earlier, we try and tried different things for my mother who has Alzheimer’s disease.  I learned about a honey call Manuka honey, never heard of it before.  I will discuss the health benefits of Manuka honey first.

I learned it has very high nutritional value.  There are different strengths,  and there is a way to know how pure and high its nutritional value. If you want it to do the things I will be mentioning it has to have a 16+ and higher on the cap or label, to be of superior quality.  It’s nutritional value is fantastic!

I found out about Manuka honey by accident.  I happen to be visiting a friend who learned I was into natural cures.   She mentioned Manuka honey to me and so I did the research.  It is very expensive, but when you consider you should not take over 2 tablespoons of it a day, it kind of lowers the expense.  I already use Raw Unfiltered honey and I use a lot more than 2 tablespoons a day because I love it, especially with tea.

This is what I found out about Manuka besides it having a high nutritional value, it is good for any bacterial related problem.  It is good for Acne and Eczema, put it on the area.  I was shocked to see it  helps with Staph infections, which makes it a powerful weapon.  But it must have the number 16+ or higher on it.  Staph is a super-bug.  Good information to know.  That is what killed my Step father in 2002.  I wish I had known this.  He was in a nursing home.

Here is some more things it is good for burns, wounds and ulcers.  So those of you who have people who are in the nursing homes please look into Manuka.  This is information that could truly help a elderly loved one.

Any time I see anything that says it helps build the immune system, I know it is good even for those with Alzheimer’s.  If it cleans up infections, I use it.  Remember Turmeric gets rid of inflammations, too.  A lot of the natural foods that get rid of inflammation is good for Alzheimer.  It doesn’t have to say good for Alzheimer disease.  Like I said earlier, you never know if you don’t try it.

And for those of you who suffer with allergies and sinusitis would you believe it is good for that too!  My friend who suffers from sinusitis swears by it.  She said it works and it works fast.

I love when I find natural foods that give our bodies the tools to work with.  Actually our body knows where the damage is, it just needs the right tools to work with and you will be surprised of the results.   So research Manuka Honey.

When you do the research you will be blown away.  One warning, if you are allergic to bees don’t take it.  Otherwise, better to add to your loved ones drinks than sugar because of the healing properties in it. O and  don’t take over 2 Tablespoons of it a day. I hope you liked learning about the health benefits of Manuka honey.

Now Manuka honey is quite expensive and you may only be able to afford Raw Unfiltered honey.  So what value does Raw Unfiltered Honey have. The first thing is, it makes a very good cough medicine.  I personally squeeze some lemon juice in it and garlic juice.  I like to buy the minced garlic and put water in it, and the longer the water is in it the more the medicinal power.  I put my garlic in the refrigerator and boy does it make a powerful combination.  It helps in upper respiratory infections, not just in older children but adults, too.  I swear by it.  Also never give infants honey, it could give them Botulism which is a rare but serious disease.

Like Manuka Honey it also treat wounds.  But it is Manuka Honey that Derma Sciences use for the Medihoney wound and burn dressings.

Now regular honey releases hydrogen peroxide, which explains its antiseptic qualities.  Now the Manuka has another ingredient that makes it superior when it comes to bacteria.  While Manuka is a superior honey, the other honey can serve for medicinal value too.1 lb orange honey with chunk of comb inside

Honey improves seborrheic dermatitis, you have to dilute it with a bit of warm water.  It was interesting to see that in the research everyone responded to the honey treatment.  It Boost your energy level.  Reduces allergy symptoms. But it has to be locally produced honey.  How it helps is,  the bees work from local plants introduce small amounts of the allergen to your body which helps your body overtime build up your natural immune system.  Also if you can get the honey comb it really helps.

I found this to interesting, that it help with herpes.  It has to be good-quality honey, though.  What the honey does is it draws fluid away from the wound.  The high sugar in honey suppresses microorganism growth.  The hydrogen peroxide in the honey helps the wound also.

If you are like me, you would like to learn about some, do it yourself remedies.  It is great as a hair conditioner.  You mix the honey with olive oil, let stay on your head for at least 30 minutes.  It also helps the sugar bond in your hair.  You shampoo as normal and rinse.  Rinse well, I don’t anyone writing me about sticky hair.

Now here is a new one.  It is a body moisturizer.  You use honey, rose oil and almond oil.  You put 5 tablespoons of honey to 2 cups of almond oil.  You apply it to wet skin.

There is even a honey almond scrub you can make.  The do it yourself recipe for this is honey, olive oil and crushed almonds.  This is an exfoliating scrub that can be put on your face and rinsed off with warm water. Well. this will help with skin irritations too.

I enjoyed doing this research because now the tea we give my mother isn’t just tea, but it has fantastic medicinal properties beyond the turmeric.  Great for anyone.

I feel one of the best ways to become good on a subject is to live it. My mother has Alzheimer's. I want people to know how to continue to show respect and love, but not give up thinking there is no way out. So because I have lived with Alzheimer's through my mother and researched it I am able to write informative information.

  1. Hi Marjorie, thank you so much for this valuable website. I had a sister who had Alzheimer’s. She suffered a lot before she passed away. If I had the information then that is available now, I might have been able to help her. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

  2. I didn’t know how good honey was for you until I read this post. Interesting that Manuka is good for burns and wounds. How fast can the healing process be if you use this type of honey? Also, just add it once or is it frequently?

    • Yes this is an awesome honey. As far as healing, like anything change daily and cover over. Please remember I am not a medical person, I just report my experiences and research.
